DCTV [our local public access] always has really strange stuff; weird homegrown programs that look a little like what Guy Maddin might have made if he had grown up in the District and used video. Last night Sherene and I were surfing through the gospel shows when we found a ventriloquist's dummy with a Jheri curl: Truly strange - and the dummy is talking to a middle-aged white guy who has a ton of reverb on his voice. The two of them do a speaking-in-tongues call-and-response version of "The Lord's Prayer." Apparently the show is The Junior Christian Bible Story Puppet Show, and its host is looking for a date: More here. |
